TPA Files Final Brief in Rico West Dolores Lawsuit

The Rico West Dolores legal action reached a significant milestone this week.  The Trails Preservation Alliance (TPA), San Juan Trail Riders (SJTR) and Public Access Preservation Association (PAPA) filed a “Reply Brief” on November 1, 2019, in Denver, CO in Colorado’s Federal U.S. District Court.

This brief is the group’s final legal papers to be submitted in their ongoing lawsuit challenging the U.S. Forest Service closures in the Rico West Dolores area in southwest Colorado.

Paul Turcke of Boise, Idaho filed the brief on behalf of the TPA, SJTR and PAPA in Federal District Court.   The briefing phase has now been completed for this case.  The parties have jointly requested the opportunity to present oral arguments, but the Federal Court for the U.S. District of Colorado has not yet indicated whether it will hear argument of the case or not.  Argument and/or a decision is expected in late 2019 or early 2020.
